Glenns Donating His Kidney To My Cousin Kim 10∙25

Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family & Loved Ones…

9/21 UPDATE - We are grateful to all who helped us reach our $10,000 goal in just over one week. "Thank you!", for all the support, love, and generosity! In light of the incredible outpouring of support, and following the advice of friends & family who have used GoFundMe to fundraise, we adjusted the target slightly to keep this GoFundMe effort live. We would love to share some of the money raised with other family members who will also have expenses related to being in Texas to support Kim and Glenn before, during, and after their surgeries.

THE STORY...

On June 14, 2021, I got the devastating news my cousin and lifelong friend Kim had terminal, end-stage genetic renal kidney failure. Glenn and I filled out a living donor application that night hoping we could help.

After two months of medical & diagnostic exams and kidney function tests, a 3-day trip to UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX for X-rays, CT Scans, 3D MRIs of internal organs, EKGs, Stress Echocardiograms, Ultrasounds of vital arteries, and endless blood labs,
at 4:00 pm on August 19, 2021, we got the call we were praying for from UT Southwestern Transplant Center - "Glenn is a perfect match to donate  a kidney to Kim!"

Kim's kidney transplant surgery will be in her hometown of Dallas, TX, at UT Southwestern Medical Center on October 25, 2021.
Glenn travels to Dallas on October 18th (one week early) for vital pre-op labs, and he will stay in Dallas for crucial post-op office visits and labs until November 6th (three weeks total).

This is all happening very fast. We didn’t plan to leave our San Diego, CA home for a three-week stay in Dallas, TX before we heard about Kim's dire situation. We definitely never planned that Glenn would be donating a kidney this Fall (or ever, for that matter). However, we're feeling blessed and relieved that Kim will get the life-saving kidney she needs!

Insurance covers their surgeries and medical expenses, but Glenn and I will have many expenses beyond that, i.e., airfare, a TX Airbnb, a rental car, and Glenn had a hand injury in April that requires specialized hand therapy three days a week. We don’t have a lot of time to figure out how we will cover these unexpected expenses. One thing is for sure though... We don't want Kim or her family stressing about this. They have enough on their plate to deal with.

No amount is too small, $5, $10, $20... Every donation helps!
We understand if cash is tight, that's okay! Just please pray for my cousin Kim and Glenn, and our families. We need your prayers as much as we need donations.

Any amount that does not go toward fees or our Dallas expenses, will be donated to the UT Southwestern Transplant Center on behalf of Glenn, Kim, and all of our friends and family who supported us!
