Help with Emma's medical costs

Donation protected
Our daughter Emma is a fun happy 11 year old living with Cerebral Palsy. She is mainly impacted through her mobility, as well as fine and gross motor skills and speech. She was born with bilaterally dislocated knees and hips. She was hospitalized for the first two months of her life. During that time, we found out that one of her hip sockets was malformed and very shallow. When she got to be a toddler, we realized that she had incredibly low muscle tone on the outside of her hips and the muscles on the inside of her hips are very tight.

As she has grown, this has caused her right leg to become bowed and also caused her to have a limp. As she has started to become a young lady her leg started to dislocate itself out of the top of her hip. The dislocation made it impossible for Emma to walk for even short distances, even with the assistance of her rear facing walker, and required her to be in her wheelchair at all times, Additionally it has made Emma unable to get in or out of the bathtubs in our home to have a bath or shower. As she has continued to get older it has become more and more difficult to lift her in and out of the shower. We are in desperate need of a walk in shower so that we are able to care for her properly, but also to hopefully give her the opportunity to be more independent and start to handle more of her own self care once she is recovered from her surgery.

Emma had major surgery on July 27th called a Femoral Derotational Osteotomy on her right leg and Pelvic Osteotomy on her right hip. http://gait.aidi.udel.edu/procedures/femoral_osteotomy.pdf
Basically they cut her femur bone in two just below the hip socket, rotate it, and reattached it with a metal plate and then they also took her hip and reshaped the hip socket and made a bone graft to strengthen the socket.

The results from the surgery that we are hoping for are obviously that Emma is no longer in any pain, but also that she is able to walk, hop, jump and or run, with minimal assistance from walkers, and braces.

The surgery and hospitalization were very costly, and we anticipate long term costs with follow ups, therapies, new orthotics and possibly changes to her walker and wheelchair.

We are humbly asking for your help with the medical expenses that we have already incurred, as well as the cost to put a walk in shower in our home for Emma. We also ask for your prayers as Emma and our family go through the difficult process of rehab and recovery.

If we are blessed to be gifted with more money than we are asking for we will use those funds to cover her future expenses that will help with her recovery.
