Help with costs caused by travellers

EOSA is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers, that provides sporting facilities for the community and our member clubs.

This week the usual calendar was disrupted when a group of 17 traveller caravans broke into one of our rugby pitches and camped on it and next to our tennis courts for the next three days.

Thankfully, the community response was fantastic with Cambridgeshire Police, East Cambs District Council and all our sports clubs and neighbours working together to protect our clubs, our members and facilities, and to diffuse any potential flashpoints. We cannot express enough our gratitude to everyone involved.

However, not only did we have to suspend all activities, but it has cost us over £10000 in bailiff fees and 24-hour security surveillance, clean-up and repair costs.

We have several important projects planned this year for which we have been fundraising, including resurfacing the car park and these additional costs will put them in jeopardy: hence this appeal. 

Any contribution towards these costs - however small - would be greatly appreciated.
