Help Winter with her vet fees and rehabilitation

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shaun and I'm raising funds for the vet fees and rehabilitation for my dog Winter, she's a beautiful labrador malamute cross that turned 7 in July and has recently become disabled from the waiste down.

When I was out with her on Saturday morning routinely playing ball with her she took a tumble and slipped on what looked like another dogs faeces. She rolled around and wailed and I ran over in panic. Within a few seconds she stopped screaming and calmed down, except she suddenly couldn't use her back legs (She's such a spectacular dog she tried to play with her ball still, which broke my heart).
I panicked and called my friend who made his way immediately, after waiting 30 minutes they arrived and we carried Winter in a blanket to the car and rushed to the vets. Once there we were referred to the specialist at the Queen mother hospital for small pets in North London. We took a long journey there where she become more stressed over time and couldn't relax at all, and once there she was taken away on a stretcher to be cared for, for an indefinite period of time.

After having an MRI we were told that a piece of a disk had broken off and hit her spinal column at high velocity severing the contact from the waist down. She's passed the point of losing all feeling in her legs thankfully and as of writing this 3 days later she has gained some muscle mass in her back right hind and is responding in that same leg and her tail, though her left back leg is only showing mild signs of feeling.

Yesterday she begun physio therapy at the hospital and they're hopeful that after the two week period of physio she will not be incontinent and she will be on track to eventually walk again.

I'm a student and my partner is employed in retail and the cost estimated at between £3400 and £7400 is so far from our price range that its added a huge amount of panic and fear ontop of an already awful situation.

We have a very small family, with only my partner myself and our dog Winter, and she truly is the heart and soul of our little family, and having this happen at all,at such high cost and around Christmas has been devastating. Many of our friends and local neighbours have been incredibly supportive and understanding as have the general public as Winter is somewhat of a local celebrity in our small town due to her strange mix with beautiful colours and a wonderful disposition.

We are so grateful for any and all help that comes our way, as Winter is our world, and without her we feel fractured heartbroken and empty.
We will be using whatever we receive to pay for her physio treatment along with her veterinary costs, and then to purchase anything we need to help her with her rehabilitation at home including a helpmeup harness to we can lift her bum and help her around the house, and a set of personal wheels so that she can still enjoy life to her fullest and run and sniff and play even with the knowledge that her legs will never be the same again.

The absolute best scenario on her long journey is that she will eventually be able to walk for herself again, though we've been told her life has changed forever in this split second. We adore her more than I can explain, and believe that we are capable of giving her everything she possibly needs and as much time as she needs to rehabilitate and have a wonderful long life.

Again, thank you for reading Winters story and any and all help is just so incredibly appreciated ❤
