Help me recover from acid attack

My name is William Pezzulo from Italy and I need your help. In September 2012, my ex girlfriend and an accomplice threw sulfuric acid onto my body and my face. After 20 days of intensive care I survived to be able to tell my story but the attack left me severely disabled: I have lost complete eyesight in my left eye (my right eye functions only partially), I’ve lost both my ears and the burn scars cover 30% of my total body. I won the case against my aggressors but I might as well have lost, it would not have made a difference. My ex girlfriend has been sentenced to 8 years which she is spending in a rehabilitation centre. She has already requested to be eligible for parole. My aggressors were also convicted by the court to pay me € 1.000.000 in damages but I will never see this money. Both aggressors don’t own anything on paper, so they cannot pay me. In fact, because on paper they are “poor”, they didn’t even have to pay for legal counsel to defend them. I am left with a bill of almost € 30.000 for my lawyer for his work in these 5 years. As the Italian state does not have a working system for crime victim funds to pay victims who didn’t receive damages from their attackers, I am basically on my own. That is why I am asking for help here.

What I need the funds for
The medical costs over the past years have forced me not only to use all my savings and those of my family but also to sell my bar where I worked together with my sister and mother, to be able to pay for specialized visits and therapies (I’ve had over 32 operations until now). 

The most urgent thing right now is the payment of my lawyer who presented the invoice to me after having “won” the case. The total amount is € 29.182,40, as you can see in this image.
 
Right now, we don’t know where to get any more money from and my parents are thinking of selling the house, the only thing they have left.

After this is paid, should there be any money left from the donations, I would like to look into the possibilities to get plastic surgery outside Italy (the doctors here say that in Italy there is not much more they can do for me) but this is very expensive. I’ve been in touch with several surgeons but the prices vary from € 90.000 per intervention to € 200.000. This doesn’t even include all the accessory costs like flight tickets, a place to stay during the three month period and costs for my parents who need to accompany me as I am nearly blind. I will be grateful for any donation given, no matter how small and I hope that someday I will be able to get plastic surgery.

Buongiorno, mi chiamo William Pezzulo, ho 30 anni e sono di Brescia. Ho bisogno del vostro aiuto. Il 19 settembre 2012 la mia ex fidanzata e un suo complice mi hanno sfregiato con l’acido solforico. Dopo 20 giorni nel reparto terapia intensiva, nonostante un arresto cardiaco, sono sopravvissuto ma l’attacco mi ha lasciato quasi completamente disabile: ho perso l’occhio sinistro e dal destro vedo solo parzialmente. Ho perso tutte e due le orecchie e ho cicatrici da ustioni sul 30% del mio corpo. Ho vinto la causa civile contro i miei aggressori, ma anche se avessi perso, non avrebbe fatto differenza. La mia ex fidanzata è stata condannata a 8 anni di carcere ma sta scontando la pena in una struttura protetta perché aveva un bimbo piccolo. Entrambi i miei aggressori erano stati condannati a pagare un risarcimento di € 1.000.000 ma sono soldi che non vedrò mai. Sono entrambi nullatenenti e quindi non hanno i mezzi per pagarmi. Infatti, per lo stesso motivo non hanno nemmeno dovuto pagare le spese legali. Io invece sono rimasto con un conto salato di quasi € 30.000 per il lavoro svolto dal mio avvocato in questi 5 anni. Siccome lo stato italiano non ha un sistema funzionante per risarcire le vittime di reati violenti, io mi trovo da solo ad affrontare tutto questo. Per questo motivo sto chiedendo aiuto qui.

Per cosa mi servono i soldi.
I costi per le visite specializzate in questi anni mi hanno forzato non solo ad usare tutti i miei risparmi e quelli dei miei familiari, ma anche a vendere l’attività commerciale che avevo insieme a mia sorella e mia madre. Abbiamo usato i ricavi per pagare gli interventi (ad oggi sono a quota 32 operazioni), visite e terapie.

La cosa più urgente adesso è il pagamento del mio avvocato che ha presentato la parcella dopo aver “vinto” la causa. Il totale ammonta a € 29.182,40, come si può vedere in questa immagine. Non sappiamo dove trovare i soldi per pagare e i mei genitori stanno pensando di vendere casa, l’unica cosa che gli è rimasta.

Se dovessero avanzare dei soldi dopo aver saldato la parcella dell’avvocato, vorrei valutare la possibilità di operarmi all’estero (i medici qui in Italia mi hanno detto che non possono più fare tantissimo per me qui) però questo comporta dei costi enormi. Sono in contatto con diversi chirurghi e i prezzi variano da € 90.000 a € 200.000 per ogni intervento. Questo non include nemmeno i costi accessori come i voli, l’alloggio in loco e i costi per i miei genitori che devono accompagnarmi perché sono quasi cieco. Sono grato per ogni singola donazione, non importa quanto sia piccola.
