The Drum & Bugle Corps activity is the pinnacle of the Marching Arts--made up of 24 world-class "teams" that compete each summer in stadiums across the country to thousands of fans. 154 Drum & Bugle Corps members are contracted by each of the 24 world-class corps after an intense and rigorous audition process. These corps are made up of students ages 16-21 who "pay-to-play" through tour fees that help cover expenses for the season including meals, lodging, tour bus transportation, uniforms/equipment, expert instruction, etc.
2019 is my second season marching for DCI (https://www.dci.org/), this year in the mellophone line of the Boston Crusaders(https://bostoncrusaders.org/). While individual tour fees only cover a fraction of the expenses for this non-profit organization, I ask for you to consider providing a donation toward a portion of my personal fee responsibility of $5,150. The drum corps activity is fun and thrilling to me and hopefully to our audience and judges, but it is also the most physically and mentally challenging thing I have ever done. You can help "Build A Champion" with your kind contribution, big or small--every amount counts. Please know that because of you, I will be able to continue pushing my limits with self-discipline, teamwork, accountability, commitment/perseverance, high achievement and the pursuit of excellence.
While I, along with my fellow members, strive to make art and music that exemplifies the highest levels of proficiency, we also are learning to be world citizens with vision in our quest to become better versions of ourselves. I have chosen to forego my summer break from the rigors of college to surround myself with people that will force me to do better.
