Help Victoria Get The Operation She Needs

Hello everyone and thank you so much for taking the time to see this and spread it out to everyone we can touch. During these times it has been difficult for some of us to deal with the changes and stresses in life. Sometimes things can seem as if it can't get any worse and there's no way out, but we have to remember that we are not alone and sometimes we need help.

In this case Victoria Oliveros and her family needs our help. The week of Christmas was filled with devesting news for her and her family. Victoria's father, Victor Oliveros, and mother, Elba Aguilar, are dear friends and are apart of our family at Breckenridge Pourhouse. Victor and Elba received news after months of tests that Victoria was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. For those of you who are unaware of what this is, Aplastic Anemia is caused by the destruction of blood-forming stem cells in bone marrow. These stem cells normally develop into three types of blood cells: red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Victoria has been receiving blood transfusions regularly for months now to replenish her platelets and well as spinal fluid. Her next step is to be tested for CMMRD (Constitutional Mismatch Repair Deficiency) which is a rare disorder that greatly increases the risk of developing one or more types of cancer in children and young adults. It is a mutation in the DNA that causes cells not to reproduce properly. The cure for Aplastic Anemia is a bone marrow transplant, which the operation will cost them upwards of $80,000. Beyond that is the year of doctor visits and transfusions and tests that have already and will cost thousands more. With this news we are all heart-broken and want to do anything we can to help them through this time. That is why we have decided to start this fundraiser. We all have seen so much happen to each other this year and we know we want to be there for everyone but perhaps we can give Victoria the chance at having a normal childhood and let her family sleep well knowing Victoria is safe and she can grow up up to flourish. With that I humbly ask each of you to take a moment and share this with everyone you can. We understand these are hard times for all of us, however, no amount is too little. We understand you may not be able to help financially but giving this to as many people as you can will truly make this a reality. We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts and cannot wait to see her grow up the way she deserves.

We will be holding a fundraiser event at the end of January at the Breckenridge Pourhouse in Breckenridge Colorado. More information on the event will be posted as we get closer to that time. We hope to see as many of you as we can.

Durante estos tiempos de pandemia, han sido difíciles para algunos de nosotros el poder lidiar con los cambios y tensiones en la vida. A veces puede parecer que las cosas no pueden empeorar y no hay salida, pero debemos recordar que no estamos solos y que a veces necesitamos ayuda.

En este caso, Victoria Oliveros y su familia necesitan nuestra ayuda. La semana de Navidad estuvo llena de noticias desgarradoras para ella y su familia. El padre de Victoria, Víctor Oliveros, y la madre, Elba Aguilar, son muy queridos amigos y forman parte de nuestra familia en Breckenridge Pourhouse. Víctor y Elba recibieron la noticia, después de varios meses de pruebas, de que a Victoria le diagnosticaron anemia aplásica. Para aquellos de ustedes que no saben qué es esto, la anemia aplásica es causada por la destrucción de las células madre formadoras de sangre en la médula ósea. Estas células madre normalmente se convierten en tres tipos de glóbulos: glóbulos rojos, glóbulos blancos y plaquetas. Victoria ha estado recibiendo transfusiones de sangre con regularidad durante meses para reponer sus plaquetas y también su líquido cefalorraquídeo. Su siguiente paso es someterse a la prueba de CMMRD (Deficiencia de reparación de desajuste constitucional), que es un trastorno poco común que aumenta en gran medida el riesgo de desarrollar uno o más tipos de cáncer en niños y adultos jóvenes. Es una mutación en el ADN que hace que las células no se reproduzcan correctamente. La cura para la anemia aplásica es un trasplante de médula ósea, cuya operación les costará más de 80.000 dólares. Más allá de eso, está el año de las visitas al médico, las transfusiones y las pruebas que ya costaron miles más. Con esta noticia, todos estamos desconsolados y queremos hacer todo lo posible para ayudarlos en este momento. Por eso hemos decidido iniciar esta recaudación de fondos. Todos nos hemos visto pasar tanto entre nosotros este año y sabemos que queremos estar allí para todos, pero tal vez podamos darle a Victoria la oportunidad de tener una infancia normal y dejar que su familia duerma bien sabiendo que ella está a salvo y que puede crecer hasta florecer.

Con eso, les pido humildemente a cada uno de ustedes que se tomen un momento y compartan esto con todos los que puedan. Entendemos que estos son tiempos difíciles para todos, sin embargo, ninguna cantidad es demasiado pequeña. Entendemos que es posible que no puedan ayudar económicamente, pero compartir esto a tantas personas como pueda realmente hará que esto sea una realidad.
