Hello, my name is Vernita. The night of December 20th, 2021, I embarked on my usual journey of deliveries and pickups as an Uber delivery driver. I had no idea that I would be robbed at gunpoint just for doing my job. As I arrived for pickup, I was brutally confronted by two armed, masked suspects, demanding my car. I fled on foot and the offenders fled in my vehicle. Never have I had my life flash before my eyes like this. I thought of my children, my family, all of the things I've done in life, and all of the things I've yet to do.

I thought of my children, my family, all of the things I've done in life, and all of the things I've yet to do.
I am blessed to not have been killed during this senseless event. Having two people attack you and take you out of your own car and seeing them drive off with everything you've worked for, causes major emotional trauma. A trauma that lingers long after any physical pain.
After what seemed like countless hours of searching and tracking by police , my car was finally found abandoned and miles away from my home. The suspects got away with everything including my cell phone , a sense of security, and all of the Christmas money I spent hours and weeks earning and saving in order to gift my beautiful family.
Without my car and cell phone , I cant work and provide for my family. It was at that point that I realized I needed help from my community . Especially with holidays coming! No one deserves to have this happen to them. Anything given would be deeply appreciated so that I can bounce back with grace and get past this tragic event.
Devastated doesn't even begin to describe how I am feeling right now. I am truly disgusted that there are still people out there who will take and harm! But I believe there are still good people left. Anything raised through here will help with car expenses, repairs, and replacements. Eternal gratitude to anyone and everyone who can contribute and help cover these unexpected and devastating losses.
