Help Velma Fight Cancer!

Friends and neighbours,

Our dear co-worker, Velma Acorn, is battling rare and aggressive form of cervical cancer.

Some of you may know her from her days cutting hair, working at a local fish plant or in long-term care here on Prince Edward Island. Perhaps you've sat next to her at church, where she’s a valued member of the congregation…or maybe you’ve been lucky enough to try some of her crave-worthy peanut butter balls or other baked goods…

Whatever Velma does, wherever she goes, her cheery and upbeat spirit brings a smile to those around her. She’s a shining example of a team player, always kind and thoughtful, brightening the day of others. And now it’s our hope that we can bring the same to her.

In fall 2022, Velma was diagnosed with small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma. She recently started four cycles of chemotherapy to be followed by five weeks of radiation.

Unable to work, our goal is to raise money to help Velma focus 100% on her recovery and not worry about how she's going to cover expenses, or manage increased expenses associated with her treatment as it progresses.

Any amount, big or small, will help our wonderful friend and community member on her journey towards healing.
