Help Us Finish Emilio's Story

Hello! I'm Kären Rasmussen, Founder, and Director of No Child Goes Hungry.

It's hard to accept that any child anywhere could ever go to bed hungry. The sad reality is that 16.7% of children in the U.S. do not know where their next meal is coming from, which makes it critical for parents, teachers, and faith-based leaders to facilitate age-appropriate conversations about food insecurity with kids starting at a young age. That's where No Child Goes Hungry, and Emilio, come in.

No Child Goes Hungry is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to eliminating childhood hunger, one kid, one meal at a time. With funds donated by churches, private organizations, and individuals, NCGH works with faith communities and other organizations to alleviate hunger on a local level.

NCGH provides grant money and mentorship opportunities so that community organizations can build hunger advocacy programs that will thrive and grow as their communities continue to tackle the problem of local food insecurity.

The conversation around hunger and the need to aid children is vital at every age. We believe an underrepresented component of the battle against childhood hunger is education. Yet, how can parents, teachers, and other community leaders hope to help kids understand the realities of food insecurity?

We have partnered with a generous author, Louise Green, and illustrator Penny Weber, who have donated their talents to help us introduce kids to Emilio, a young boy like them who, through his story, will help them understand that kids like them might not always know where their next meal is coming from—but everyone can make a difference and help those in need.

To send Emilio's story to print, we're asking for donations to offset printing and production costs. With your support, we'll get Emilio's Very Bright Idea into the hands of parents, teachers, community, and faith-based leaders who can help foster the next generation of humanitarians. Once published, 100 percent of proceeds from the book's sales will benefit No Child Goes Hungry and help us continue the battle against childhood hunger.
