Help us save Snow's life (as seen on The Dodo)

Donation protected

Snow and her babies were rescued back in September. The babies were about 2 weeks old when they were found. They had little to no chance of survival while their mom, Snow, split her time between the location she gave birth and the place she lived her entire life–the parking lot of a water treatment plant. The puppies were found muddy and cold under a car where Snow had hidden them. The rescue effort was a challenge, as Snow was deeply afraid of our founder and rescuer, Nilsa. But Snow knew she needed help. You can see in her face she wanted Nilsa to help her and her babies. Thankfully, we managed to save them all, and mama Snow was able to nurse her babies in a dry, safe space , and take good care of them under Nilsa's watchful eye.

We later learned that Snow had gone to give birth 15 miles away from where she lives because her first litter had been killed. It made the rescue all the more special because we knew we had given Snow a chance to care and love her puppies in a clean and protected environment, and allow her to be the mom she did not get to be with her first litter.

When we finally flew the family to New York, we were blessed to be able to keep them together a while longer and give Snow time to decompress in her loving foster home with her babies. When it was time, one by one, her babies were adopted to wonderful families. We couldn’t be more grateful for the adopters and happy for the puppies that all went to loving homes. We were blessed again when we found a home for Snow and were ready to celebrate her adoption day this weekend, on 12/14, but that all changed after a sonogram showed she had a mass in her intestines and needed surgery immediately.

Yesterday, we found out that Snow has either a tumor or Pythium in her lower intestine and colon, and her surgery and recovery is going to cost approximately $8,000. Once that is complete and the biopsy results are back, we will know what other treatment is recommended, but have no indication what the additional costs will be.

We are heartbroken that our Snow's happy ending is in jeopardy and are doing everything possible to still make it happen. Please help us fight for Snow's life. She has gone through so much heartache; from living on the streets hungry and alone to her first litter being killed, to then finally traveling to NY where she has a chance at her happy forever home. She deserves a chance at a happy ending. She has made it this far.

We plead with you to please share her story and help us raise the funds to pay for her surgery and post surgery care. We want nothing more than to see her have the same happy ending as her babies and are prepared to fight for it, but we can't do it alone.

Thank you for your support!
