We're raising money for our Korean restaurant, YONG (named after my mother), in downtown Houston to keep it in business while the world gains control of the Coronavirus pandemic. As of today, Houston restaurants are to remain open for pick-up and delivery only. This is a fraction of the business we're capable of doing, and there are fees of 10-30% associated with utilizing third-party delivery options.
Due to the virus, we've had to stop scheduling our staff of eight indefinitely, and are currently running a two-person operation. We can't afford to pay our staff while they're out of work, and have encouraged them to seek other employment for the time being if possible. Our employee Eli and his wife are expecting their baby girl on 4/5/20, and their situation is dire. The most we can do as small business owners is offer our employees free food from our restaurant so they don't have to buy groceries while unemployed, and hope to drum up enough business to be able to schedule them again.
We can survive the rest of March with what funds we have in our checking account, but will need more funds soon. Your donations will help us provide stipends for our employees and help us pay our monthly revolving bills that will be due regardless of whether we're fully operating.
The entire world is being affected by this outbreak, and so many industries are in danger- not just us. We understand you may not be in a position to help. If you are able to help us at all, we sincerely appreciate your generosity. Your kindness will help save our lives and our livelihoods.
