Help us Save Dogs from the Yulin Dog Meat Festival

Donation protected
Home At Last Dog Rescue was presented with a unique opportunity to help save dogs from the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China this coming January. We were approached by a group of volunteers who work tirelessly to save dogs from slaughter at this annual event. Due to the overwhelming demand for dog meat, and the falsities believed to come from eating dog meat in the summer, the Yulin Dog Meat festival claims the lives of over 10,000 dogs per year. Often these dogs are stolen family pets. We have been able to secure foster homes for 15 dogs (and hopefully more ) but due to the international travel and medical costs it will require, this is going to be a large financial undertaking for our organization. The limited number of rescue resources for these dogs in China can not continue their mission of saving dogs from this inhumane slaughter each year without moving current dogs in their facilities to other rescue groups out of the country. They have extremely limited funds but are driven by their overwhelming passion to save lives. Please help us, help them. We will be sending two volunteers to meet the dogs and the volunteers who saved them in China and fly them all home to the United States. We estimate costs of this mission to exceed $10,000.

In order to spare you from becoming ill reading too much about the Yulin Dog Meat Festival or sharing pictures of the horrific event, we are including a link for those interested in learning more about the event. Warning: it is graphic, and can be incredibly disturbing to read about and view. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/yulin-dog-meat-festival-explainer-what-is-it-when-start-banned-controversy-a8410426.html%3famp

In addition to dogs being taken to slaughter, there are now new stricter laws for pets in place as well. There are 34 dog breeds that have been banned in the city of Hangzhou and owners are not permitted to walk their pets out for walks between 7am and 7pm. Large dogs are most at risk and pets are being confiscated and killed.

***Please note that if additional money is raised than is needed or if for some reason we are unable to bring these dogs to the US the money raised will be used to save other dogs in need***
