Who am I?

Hello! My name is Jasmine AJ Rivers, and I am the Founder and Head Writer of Detroit, MI's FIRST EVER Screenwriting Label, Hidden Treasure Films. Detroit is known for many things, good and bad, but one irrefutable fact is that there is no shortage of talented and creative minds. The problem is that there aren't many opportunities around the city of Detroit for one to showcase their screenwriting and filmmaking abilities.

In 2013, I was homeless with my two children. I worked extremely hard to pull myself out of that rut, but the fact of the matter is that I wouldn't be where I am today if people hadn't cared enough to help me up and provide me with opportunities that helped me to grow. After moving into a place of my own, I created a non-profit organization, The Christian Family Network, to help single mothers transition from homeless shelters into their own homes and find employment opportunities. My favorite bible scripture is Luke 12:34 "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." My heart has always been with teaching and helping others reach their full potential, but sometimes, the treasure we desire is hidden by fear and doubt.

What do we do?

My mission with Hidden Treasure films is to find hidden gems (writers) and help them perfect the craft of screenwriting so that they can network and share their stories in the digital media space. I believe that one's good and bad life experiences and even testimonies are gifts to the world and need to be shared so that others can draw hope from those experiences. We write short films to produce inhouse, which will help our writers and the production staff we'll partner with gain the experience they need to grow in their respective fields.

How will the money be used? How are we going to show you the impact?

As we reach our goal, we'll be able to create quality films for your viewing, and eventually open the doors of opportunity bring on more signed writers. The only thing holding us back is the lack of capital and support. That's where you come in! The funds we receive from this campaign will go towards:

• paying the production staff and actors for their hard work
• set locations
• film editing
• travel expenses
• film equipment
• props
• meals for staff while on set
