Help us get this family a roof over their heads

Please help our friend and her 3 daughters who are now without a home after storm damage.

On Wednesday 9th June, 2021 wild storms ripped through parts of Victoria,  destroying homes, businesses and people's already damaged livelihoods after one of the toughest 18 months imaginable.  The Eastern suburbs were one of the worst hit regions.

For our good friend Kim and her 3 young daughters, this was the night that landed them homeless.

At around 11pm, a huge 25m gum tree from a neighboring property fell, tearing through the roof of their family home in Lilydale, turning 15 year old Tamika's bedroom into an unrecognizable pile of debris, and causing catastrophic damage to the structure of the home. Their family home, is completely destroyed.

To make a bad situation worse, the now destroyed family home was devastatingly uninsured. Like so many people struggling to make ends meet the last 18 months through 4 Melbourne lock-downs, their automatic renewal payment declined. With no second payment attempt, or reminder communication, they now find themselves is this unimaginable situation.

Unable to get assessments underway, and with limited assistance from local Council, or SES at this stage, Kim and her girls desperately need our help to get back on their feet.

Kim and her children are currently bunking into the spare bedroom at her parents home, but they need to find an accommodation solution with urgency. With no insurance, there is no financial relief available, for anything.

Any funds raised will go towards temporary accommodation, the purchase of more tarps to protect the home from further weather damage, clothing/supplies for Kim and the girls, and of course either rectification or demolition works to the home.

If you can help out Kim and her family out in any way, we know your contributions will be so greatly appreciated.

***A huge thank you to David from Tree Principles  who has generously offered to remove the tree, and help tarp the house at no cost, as well as paying out of his own pocket over $600 for the crane required for the job. Kim would like to be able to be able to pay David back if possible.
