Help us fix Buddy's Broken Hip!

Buddy was found living in a ditch several months ago and taken in by a Good Samaritan. He was very thin and scared but with her help, Buddy learned to trust people again and put on a lot of weight (a little too much!). His rescuer couldn't keep him any longer and was unsuccessful at finding him a good home so she surrendered him to rescue. Once he came into rescue, we noticed that Buddy has a limp. X-rays show that his left hip is in terrible shape. The vet thinks that Buddy was most likely hit by a car and the hip was broken. The vet recommends a Femoral Head Ostectomy, a procedure where the ball joint is actually removed. Although it sounds quite awful, the recovery is usually fairly fast and the level of pain is much less that what he is experiencing now, with the broken hip joint still in place. The surgery will cost around $2000 with his medications and with after care. We hope to get Buddy's surgery done as soon as possible, so this sweet guy can finally find a forever home, where he will never have to live in a ditch again and will never know hunger or the terrors of street life again.
