The story of Clavel, the rebellious pig from Costa Rica
Clavel jumped from a transport truck that was carrying several pigs on the way to slaughter. After liberating herself she arrived at a neighborhood where she was once again captured with the intent to be slaughtered in time for Christmas.
On November 18th, 2020, through the collective work of several activists they managed to get her out of that place and fight alongside her for her freedom. Since then they've been looking for a forever home for Clavel. She's been in two different homes, but sadly has been returned. We are in urgent need to find a new space for her.
In Cartago Costa Rica, there is a place that takes care of animals, called El Rinconcito Animal, where they foster rescued dogs and cats, it is run with great love by two of the activists that aided Clavel in her liberation. However, the space is not large enough for a pig to live.
Fortunately one of the neighbors of the sanctuary has a small piece of land for sale, which is intended for Clavels new home. The lot is 150m2 and has a cost of $6000, in addition it needs to be fenced in order to keep Clavel safe and happy, this adds an extra $2000.
We need your support so that Clavel can finally have a home. We've managed to cover the cost of her food through the support of friends and fellow activists, and the selling of T-shirts, but to buy the space for her home we need more help.
Help us give Clavel a forever home and take the first step towards making El Rinconcito Animal an animal sanctuary.

Clavel la cerdita rebelde de Costa Rica
Clavel saltó de un camión dónde llevaban varios cerdos, ella llegó sola a unas residencias, pero ahí la encerraron para matarla y comerla en diciembre del 2020.
Mediante una organización colectiva de activistas logramos sacarla de ese lugar y luchar junto a ella por su libertad. El 18 de noviembre logramos liberarla y desde ahí hemos iniciado un largo trabajo por encontrar un espacio para ella.
Encontramos 2 hogares, pero en los 2 la han devuelto porque no pueden seguir con su cuido. Nos urge conseguir el espacio para Clavel, ya que pronto no la podrán cuidar más en donde se encuentra actualmente.
En Cartago Costa Rica, hay un espacio de cuido de animales, llamado el rinconcito animal que tiene a cargo perros y gatos rescatados, estamos llenos de amor, responsabilidad y voluntad, y está a cargo de 2 de los activistas que ayudaron a su liberación. Sin embargo, el espacio no es tan grande como para que viva una cerdita.
Hemos gestionado con uno de los vecinos, y él está anuente a vendernos un espacio de terreno para ella, que tiene un costo de 6000 dólares. Es un espacio de 150m2 que debemos además cercar para lograr que ella se encuentre segura y feliz. Además necesitamos 2000 dólares para cercar el espacio.
Necesitamos de su apoyo para que Clavel pueda tener al fin su hogar.
Hemos logrado cubrir su alimentación mediante redes de apoyo, actividades como venta de camisetas, pero para lograr su espacio necesitamos más ayuda.
Ayúdanos a darle un hogar a Clavel y dar el primer paso para que Rinconcito Animal, sea un santuario de animales.
