Suadela is a nonprofit organization with a mission to increase women and girls’ power by developing their capacity for decision making and action. The organization, founded by Harvard University students with the support of faculty members, aims to increase young women and girls’ power. Our vision is to contribute to a world in which being a girl does not determine life outcomes; a world in which women and girls are able to use their agency to make decisions about their education, health and livelihoods; a world in which they can thrive and own their destiny.
In our training programs, women and girls learn how to master the art of negotiation to overcome obstacles and achieve their life goals.
Suadela’s team is currently training a group of 10 college-educated women living in Bamako, Mali to be the beta-testers. After a six-week program where they master negotiation, this first cohort will be trained on Suadela’s curriculum and ready to apply negotiation to everyday life situations. Our beta-testers will, in turn, train between 50 and 80 teenage girls from 13-15 years old.
Research has shown that women and girls are disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 crisis, with a higher risk of dropping out of school and facing early pregnancy (Malala Funds).
