HELP US DO A TEDx TALK IN MALAYSIA!
What's this?
The University Putra Malaysia invited us to do a TEDx Talk on "The Payoffs of Chasing After Your Dreams" this November 8, 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and we really need your support! More specifically, funding support (Goal $3500)!
How come?
In contrast to TED Talks, TEDx Talks are independently organized events and as such, do not pay for speakers' airfare and other expenses.
Our Story:
In January 2017, we (Stephan Dyer and Juan Cajiao) were two of the youngest Senior Managers in one of Canada's top banks. While achieving professional success in a foreign country felt really good (and made our parents proud), we slowly began to realize this was not our true calling. As time passed, it became more and more evident that what we were truly passionate about was inspiring people and changing peoples’ lives through laughter and comedy. The time then came to make a big decision in our lives: to continue being comfortable, but unfulfilled, or to embark on the perilous high seas of pursuing a dream and having a significant impact on the world and the communities we care about through comedy. So we created MalPensando Club de Comedia Canadá (the only Spanish Comedy & Public Speaking School in Canada), and in April 2017 we BOTH quit our Senior Manager Positions in Banking to pursue this dream.
Since then, we’ve performed over 300 shows in 14 cities across 8 countries, received the prestigious award of Best Latin Comedians 2017 by Latin Awards Canada, been invited to participate in Comedy Central (callback), received The Second City Diversity Fellowship, and have been part of a number of Canadian projects on radio and television. .
Today, MalPensando has improved the lives of 200+ students through humor and has been a vehicle for countless hours of community service in the Hispanic-Canadian community. Helping others through laughter is our true life calling and we'd REALLY like to go share our story with the Malaysian people. We would be SO thankful is you helped us get there!
How will the funds we used? (Goal $3500)
Solely to pay for airplane tickets (approx. $1300 each) and accommodation.
