Help us buy this bus for the Sydney Bus Museum

The Sydney Bus Museum has been given the opportunity to purchase a very rare bus that is a gap in our collection. 6057 is a 1948 Leyland OPD2 with a Commonwealth Engineering body built at Granville in Sydney. The bus was new to Dions and is similar to Sydney Double deckers built however it was never a Government bus. 21 double deckers were built for private bus companies between 1947 and 1950 and 6057 is the only survivor.

This bus has been immaculately restored over a long period by a museum member and we now have the opportunity to purchase it and bring in into the museum collection for permanent display.

Dions bus service has recently celebrated its 100th anniversary and is the longest serving bus operator in NSW. 6057 was built for the Wollongong to Austinmer Route 1 service and ran until it was retired in 1964. Upon retirement it was parked in a shed until it was acquired for preservation in 1982. The quality of the restoration of this bus is extremely high and the bus is ready to go on display in our museum at Leichhardt.

To purchase this bus the museum needs to raise $50,000 to pay for the purchase. We need your help to make this bus an exhibit in the museum. Can you help?
