What are we raising funds for?
Conscience is developing an Education Programme to produce fact-based educational materials for members of the public. The programme will present basic information around conscientious objection to military taxation, and related issues, in a clear, simple way.
We believe that sound facts and information are essential for considering what changes are needed, for assessing what campaigns are appropriate and for deciding on appropriate action.
Do you want to bring change?
The new Education Programme Conscience is launching will underpin our activities, helping to raise awareness of issues around the right to be able to
conscientiously object to military taxation.
It will answer basic questions, such as what is conscientious objection and whether there are still conscientious objectors.
It will put changes, such as the £16.5bn increase in defence spending over the next four years which the government has just announced, into context. It will complement and inform our campaigning work.
We have lots of factual information: on conscientious objection, on war tax resistance, on military spending, on conflict resolution and alternatives to military intervention. We are also spreading awareness through our webinars and these are generating more educational material. This will provide a foundation for our new, up-to-date educational resources, and we are currently seeking a Volunteer Education Assistant to develop them.
