Help Tyler Heal

Hey there, my name is Tyler-James Anderson. I am an Asheville based ceramic artist and the studio manager of The Bright Angle, a handmade design firm. I have pilonidal disease which means I get frequent massive infections at the base of my spine, which are incredibly uncomfortable and painful. I recently had a second surgery to try and tackle the "beast on my back" in order to eliminate the constant pain and discomfort that this disease causes. Unfortunately I have an estimated recovery time of two or three months. While I knew that this surgery was a possibility, I am still paying off the medical bills from my last surgery for this same disease. I simply can't afford to miss 8-12 weeks of work, especially with even more medical bills from this most recent surgery piling up. Now I am faced with the humbling decision to place myself and my partner in an even more precarious financial situation, or to ask for help. Fortunately, since moving to Asheville two years ago, I have found myself amongst an incredible community of artists. These people are not only my friends and colleagues, but also my support network. These incredible artists have donated work as pledge gifts to offer as a thank you for donating. There is a 5 tiered gift system in place for donors. Donation perks will be randomly selected depending on how much you were able to give. Think “mystery prize" for helping out an artist. We have a variety of work from bespoke ceramic pieces, to jewelry and paper crafts. Simple donations under 25 dollars, or donors above that price range that are just giving for the sake of giving, will get a big thank you from me. 25 dollar donors will receive a handmade piece of equal or greater value, a 50 dollar donation will land you a somewhat pricier handmade work of art by one of the aforementioned artists. A contribution of 100 dollars will be met with a handmade mug or similar item from our artists as well as a limited edition triple threat collaboration piece between myself, Laurie Caffery-Harris and Nick Moen. Lastly donations of 250 dollars and above will receive a custom piece made by me and/or one of our artist collaborators. These will be in the vein of a large platter, pitchers, vases, serving bowls etc. (the pricier work we ceramic artists make). There is a chart version of the tiered system below. All donors who wish to receive a piece for their contribution will be asked to provide their email address for further communication on delivery and shipping. Perk recipients will be emailed a flat rate shipping invoice and can expect to open their thank you gifts shortly after my healing process is complete sometime in late November. Any and all help in this trying time would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for the love and support! You rule! Perks: UNDER $25.00 - my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude. $25.00 small hand made piece of equal or greater value from one of our artists. $50.00 handmade mug or similar item from our contributing artists. $100.00 - handmade piece from one of our artists as well as special collaboration Nick Moen/Laurie Caffery/ Tyler-James Anderson mug. $250 custom large piece by Tyler-James or other contributing artist.
