Help Tucker Get Chemotherapy

Donation protected
This is my dog, Tucker. He's an energetic 8-year-old Husky/German Shepherd mix, and he's my best boy! At his last visit to the vet, my worst fear became a reality when we discovered that Tucker has two types of cancer.

Diagnosis

Due to the fact that one of the masses is a baseball-sized tumor and the other is located in his abdomen, his vet determined that both cancers are inoperable. With no precursory symptoms or changes in his behavior, this news was completely unexpected. Along with this devastating diagnosis, his vet estimates that Tucker has six months to a year left to live.

Treatment Fundraising

After discussing several treatment options and being overwhelmed with medical information, it came down to decision-making. The fact is, there is no cure. Toward the end of his life, he will 100% lose his ability to function. And as much as I love him, I am not going to keep him alive longer using aggressive treatments just so I can have more time with him. My priority is making sure that he experiences as much happiness and as little suffering during whatever time he has left. As a result, I've decided to go with chemotherapy in order to extend his quality of life and slow down the deterioration process. In the spirit of full disclosure, this treatment path will mostly likely not allow him to live longer. The purpose of the chemotherapy is to enable him to live happier and minimize his pain for as long as possible.

Needing to act quickly before any symptoms progress, we've already started chemotherapy. Tucker seems to be reacting well so far, which gives us hope for continuing treatments. But because he will need to go in every three weeks for $1000 chemo sessions, the vet bills will be adding up quickly. In an attempt to ease some of the financial stress, I'm trying to raise $3000 to help with the first few treatments. And in the event that we raise enough money to cover treatments, any excess money will be donated to Flat Broke Farm, an animal rescue sanctuary in Sonoma.

Tucker is my first dog, he's the first pet that I've ever been able to call mine. And the thought of watching him grow weaker as the cancer progresses has completely shattered me. If you've ever had a pet, you know it's more that just an animal. They're your family member, they're your best friend. And I want to do everything I can to help my best friend live his happiest life. Thank you all so much for your support, any donations/kind thoughts/prayers are so appreciated. Please know that you have a special place in my heart for wanting to help my little guy!
