Help Treasure Beat GBS!

Donation protected
In late February, Treasure Rawson, a 17-year veteran of Disney TVA, mentioned that she felt numbness and tingling in her hands. Within days, this progressed to excruciating pain in her back and numbness in her feet. After a month of hospital visits and sleepless nights, a neurologist diagnosed her with a rare disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome (gee-YAH buh-RAY).

GBS affects one in every 100,000 people. It attacks the body’s immune system, specifically the myelin sheath that surrounds and protects the nerves, much like the protective covering of a wire. GBS eats away at the cell covering, leaving the nerve damaged and exposed. After the initial phase, GBS reaches one of six plateaus, which range from minor neuropathy to death.

Fortunately, Treasure is Level 3 (“able to walk with support”), which is where her treatment begins. She’s begun immunoglobulin infusion to help fight further damage from infection, a treatment with a $40,000 price tag. Though there is no cure, there is a strong possibility for full recovery. Recovery from the effects of Guillain-Barre Syndrome can take several months to a year or more.

Treasure is a fighter and those who know her will agree that that is an understatement. She will beat this thing and we have the honor to help her in that fight. Treasure has the love and support of her husband and two daughters. This Go Fund Me will assist Treasure and her family to cope with the challenges ahead.
