Help Tony Kick Leukemia's Butt!!!!

Donation protected
Tony is 51 years old. For the past 25 years, he's been married to his high school sweetheart, Chantal, while together they've raised their 4 children (Courtney-28, Blake- 20, Elise- 14, Alex- 13).  Tony works as a troubled youth guidance counselor/PO at Clark County Juvenile Detention Center while Chantal is an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher.

On July 29th, we got a call saying Tony had been rushed to the ER. We were told that he had shortness of breath and chest pain but were given no further information.

After performing the standard diagnostic tests, the doctors had discovered that Tony had a 103 degree fever, low (6.2 g/dL) hemoglobin count (normal range is 13.8-17.2 g/dL) and his immune system was measuring 62 (normal is 1k). Given the severity of his condition, Tony was immediately transferred to the ICU and was packed in ice while extensive testing remained underway to diagnose Tony's underlying condition.

In attempt to raise his hemoglobin count a blood transfusion was ordered. The first transfusion was unsuccessful as it raised his levels to only 6.7 g/dL. A second blood transfusion was administered, though it never restored his count to normal range.

Tony was diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs and neutropenic. The doctors told Chantal, his wife, that his immune system had begun to shut down. Visitors were immediately restricted adding undue stress and burden to his family by not being able to support him while he fought for his life in the hospital.

Following this diagnosis, his doctor's ordered a bone marrow biopsy and an infectious disease doctor was brought in to consult on Tony's case.

On August 1st, Tony was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL).

Due to Tony's multiple modalities, Chantal, his wife, was told by his attending physician that Tony would be hospitalized for a minimum of 4 weeks to 3 months or until his immune system stabilized; he remained hospitalized for 6 weeks with visitation restricted in an isolated room.

Despite everything that this disease has thrown at Tony, he's determined to overcome. He's had the most aggressive chemo treatment while he was in the hospital and was admitted in effort to be reunited with his family. Tony will begin outpatient therapy in the upcoming week and will be treated with a “natural product” - Arsenic Trioxide -  over the course of the next 6 months. While the road ahead will be long and trying, he refuses to give up.

In an effort to lessen the financial strain that this dreaded disease burdens people with, we are setting up this account to help cover the cost of Tony's treatment. Tony and Chantal would be the last to ask for help but the first ones to help others in need. This disease has devastated their family- physically, emotionally and mentally, while it has put undue strain on their ability to support Tony given his current restrictions. Please consider making a donation of any size today as they need every ounce of help that they can get to overcome the burdens that this illness will put onto this family.

At this point Tony's current treatment plan will be a combination of the arsenic trioxide, chemo (Atra) medication, and he is on the list to possibly receive a bone marrow transplant. His health plan will be supported by a whole foods plants based diet . His wife, Chantal, has begun to work to incorporate alternate therapies to compliment his current treatment plan as they refuse to accept the prognosis of his condition.

With your support, you'll help to cover both the direct and indirect costs that are associated with Tony's care. Our goal is to raise the funds needed so that Tony can focus his energy on fighting this disease, not worry on how they'll pay for his treatment.
