Some of you know us personally, some of you dined at our restaurant at least once, some of you might have never met us. Here is our story.
My name is Svetlana. I am originally from Kazakhstan. In 2008 I graduated from law school and moved to Seattle. I was career driven and ready for new adventures. Shortly after I met husband Brahim who had lived and worked in Seattle for many years. We have been happily married for 12 years.
In 2010 Brahim found an established business for sale and it was his dream come true. He immediately fell in love with the Crepe Cafe and Wine Bar and decided to buy it.
While I was pursuing my career goals as a lawyer I decided to take a detour and help my husband build a successful business. We have had our ups and downs, struggles and successes; but, we always supported each other and managed to get through any difficulties life had been throwing at us.
At the end of 2018 we became proud parents of our now 14-month old twins, Yusef and Sofia. As owners/operators of our cafe we have relied solely on family and friends for daily care of our busy toddlers. We made it work - until now.
As you all know coronavirus outbreak shook the world and affected so many businesses not just in Seattle, but around the globe. Unfortunately, our small family business is not an exception. Our sales dropped so drastically for the last couple of weeks that we are in financial crisis right now and unable to pay rent, taxes, payroll and other operational expenses.
We have devoted almost 8 years of our lives to our restaurant, we sacrificed a lot along the way. It became our life, our livelihood, our pride and joy. We love being in Ravenna neighborhood and very grateful for all the support we have been getting from our beloved customers all these years. We love the community we have built around the Crepe Cafe and we are not ready to give up.
We are going above and beyond to keep our business running during this economic crisis but I am afraid we are not going to make it without your help.
Our restaurant has been sustaining us financially for years, but now this ship is sinking and I am afraid we are sinking with it. There is a lot of uncertainty with what’s going to happen, there is so much panic and fear, no one knows when this chaos is going to be over.
In the meantime we made a difficult decision to reach out to our family, friends and community. We are respectfully asking you to donate whatever amount you can afford to help keep our business and our family afloat. It can be a very small donation. Anything helps. Your support is greatly appreciated.
