Help to get 20 kids to school

The background story
In 2021 we came across a family of 28 kids in Kasolo Village, Bulamanji Sub-country in Uganda. These kids were abandoned by their biological parents and left with their 72 years old Grade father and 64-year grandmother. This kid lived a life full of misery with poor shelter, food and no access to education.

The Grand's home needed to be more satisfactory; the mattresses were all worn and threadbare. The children suffered from bed bug bites and skin rashes due to poor sleeping conditions. Unfortunately, in 2022, they lost only their caretaker Grand Father. At this stage, everything worsens to the extent that the 8-13 aged young ones jump onto the street, picking up old metal Scraps for selling so they can buy food for themselves.

Especially for many girls in Uganda, education does not only mean a better future - it is essential for survival. Without education, children are easily vulnerable, leading to unwanted pregnancies, sexual abuse, domestic violence and early marriage. They are discriminated against and deprived of prospects. They often do not have the chance to build an independent life or to realise their own potential. Education is the only and, at the same time, the strongest weapon to escape poverty in the long run. And often, shame plays a significant role because the necessary means for hygiene, like sanitary towels, are missing. At Okoa, we provide hygiene items, teach our children in the Children's House their value in Christ, and ignite their passion for education.

Who we are
We began by building an initiative to fundraise funds, so we first renovated the houses. It's the place for the kids to get better sleep and comfort.
And safety they desperately needed.

Our solution
Today we humbly invite everyone to join us in our GO TO SCHOOL campaign to raise funds to provide the 20 kids with the necessities, tuition fees and school supplies. They will attend for the first time in their lives.

We aim to raise 8000 Euros per school year to educate the children.
The school year is divided into terms interrupted by a short vacation. The first term begins in February and lasts until May. This is followed by the 2nd term from May to August and the 3rd from September to November. After each term, a report is given. At the beginning of December, at the end of the 3rd term, there is an exam period, and the last report card decides about the promotion of the student. This is followed by the big "vacations" until the beginning of February. The school fees have to be paid at the beginning of each term. We have started this campaign to make this possible for our children in the orphanage.

To achieve this, we need
Our target is to raise 8000 euros.
1. 350 Euro per child for the whole school year consisting of 3 terms, local insurance and health services such as pads for the girls.
2. 50 Euro one time per child for the purchase of school supplies, uniforms and shoes.

At Okoa, we believe education is the key to success; if these kids acquire education, they can positively transform their community.
