Help to buy an auto folding mobility scooter.

My name is Janice and I’m 77. My husband is called Mike and he is 86. Three years ago he had a heart attack. Then suffered some TIA’s. Then got jaundiced. Up until he had his heart attack he was very fit and healthy for his age. After all that he has been gradually going downhill. Last Thursday the 9th of December 2021 he received the news that he now has Vascular Dementia. We know it will only get worse. We do have a stair lift put in as we live in an upstairs flat. I bought him a mobility scooter this year as his mobility is terrible. Unfortunately he doesn’t use it as he is too nervous to take it on to a bus. I can’t carry it on for him as it’s far too heavy. Consequently I am not getting him out and I feel he needs to get out in order to get some stimulation instead of looking at four walls every day. I fear that is not helping him. A friend mentioned mobility scooters that open and close at the press of a button, then fold up like a suitcase so that you can pull it along. That would be great as it can be folded up when we get on a bus. Then when we get off he can just press a button to open it out. I’ve been looking online and they are very expensive. It’s not something I can afford for him right now. If I try to save up for one, it might take a long time. I am also due compensation from the London borough of Lambeth for the abuse suffered as a child in two of their children's homes, plus being placed in a mental hospital for two years for running away from these homes. As they said at the time, 'It was secure so I couldn't run away.' The compensation would more than cover the cost of this scooter. I have made this promise...When I receive the compensation, I will then pay back every penny that has been fundraised on here. I will give it all back to charity and get a receipt to prove it. Those of you who know me, know that I am more for giving to charity than asking for myself,  this is why I decided to come on here and open up my heart to you all. I was once told, if you don’t ask, you don’t get. So I am asking if any of you could help me in fundraising this for Mike. He has been a great husband and I don’t want him to sit in our flat looking at four walls every day. Time is something that we don't have much of.
