Help this trans boy pay for college by August 1st!

Hey, my name is Gabriel Pala. I'm an 18-year-old, Peruvian, Trans-male digital artist with an immense interest in 2D animation. I got the breathtaking opportunity to get accepted into my dream college: the School Of Visual Arts. I will be taking Animation courses this Fall 2019 as an Undergraduate. My dream career is to become a professional animator who makes fast-paced animated music videos for musicians and artists. These music videos will focus on visuals that synchronize with every layer of a song while simultaneously conveying a story and representation for the LGBTQ+ community & people of color.

I need your help paying for SVA's tuition by August 1st.

To begin with, I did receive the Silas H. Rhodes Scholarship from SVA, along with a Federal Pell Grant and the TAP award:


What's left now is $6,250 after deducting the awards from the tuition cost. The reason I'm asking for $6500 is that GoFundMe takes a portion of the donation for their site, thus having me to ask for a bit more. They take 2.9% + 0.30 cents per donation.


$6,250 may not sound like a lot to some people but...for a first-generation undergrad coming from a low-income immigrant family it's...a lot. This number will only get even higher each year.

I only have my mother to help me out and I've been trying to find another job since the summer job I have will not be enough. I'm also trying to revamp my commissions at the moment for more financial support. Here's a collage of some of my work:

I've waived the school's insurance fee from the bill which helped a bit and I've been applying for scholarships. However, most of the scholarships I've applied for reveal the winners after August 1st and there's no guarantee that I won them. I've even applied for the college's housing scholarship and I ended up losing...

I'm so honored I got into my dream college but money really does determine if you go or not. I'm lucky the school gave me a scholarship because without it I will not be attending SVA at all. This gap is something that has been stressing my mother and I out greatly. We need as much support as we can get.
