Help Their Family Dreams Come True

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law have been struggling to have a baby and they need our help GoFundMe family. They thought they’d exhausted all possibilities and have depleted much of their savings in their journey to start their family. Recently though, they were referred to a special IVF doctor that believes he can help them. He is truly their last hope in fulfilling their dream.
Here’s why: when my sister-in-law was only 32 she began suffering from awful night sweats and severe mood swings. At first, doctors thought she had lymphoma, but after many tests it was discovered that she actually had failing ovaries. It was also discovered that this was caused from a mutation she was born with, but thankfully it would not affect any future children she had. She was told that she would likely go into menopause in her early 40’s.
She wanted to harvest and freeze her eggs, but that was not financially feasible at the time. Although her body was rapidly changing, she still had levels that would support getting pregnant. Since she was a little girl, having a baby and a family has always been her one dream.
At 35, Alyssa and my awesome brother-in-law Jon got engaged. They started right away to try to get pregnant. Right after they were married it was discovered that her ovarian function drastically changed, removing the hope of having their own baby without some sort of assistance. Desperate for hope, they went to a fertility clinic and after being told IVF would be a waste of money, they tried multiple IUI’s that failed. Jon and Alyssa then sought out second and third opinions. At the recommendation of a friend, they saw a doctor in Winston Salem who offered hope! He uses cutting edge medicine and procedures to help those who have been turned away by many others. They were offered promise by doing minimal stimulation multi-cycle IVF. This process requires extensive monitoring and intervention above standard IVF; many clinics simply aren’t willing to make the time investment necessary. For the first time in years, there is a glimmer of hope! They are now in a race against time to get this procedure done before Alyssa’s ovaries completely fail.
They must start ASAP. Like most insurance companies, theirs will not pay for this procedure. Even though infertility is a health issue, it’s often not a covered one. Their dreams are so close in reach. It will cost them approx. $23,000 for the harvesting, fertilization, ultrasounds, etc. It will be an additional $6000-$9000 for the medications required each cycle. There are labs required before and after each cycle--these are not included in those costs. Based on information they’ve been able to find, the cost ranges from $50-$200 per lab, per cycle. Also, the clinic is about 90 miles away. Both Jon and Alyssa must take time off work to drive there for each session, and any labs that can’t be done locally.
It's often hard for so many of us to ask for help to fulfill our dreams. This couple is so deserving of a family. Jon and Alyssa will be amazing parents. They’re already fostering neglected and abused dogs, helping them find there forever families. It will be amazing if we can all show them some love by helping them with the cost of this difficult procedure. I know they would be over the moon thankful for any amount shared with them.
