On September 7th our little 2 1/2 month old grandson Jack quit breathing. CPR was performed & he was rushed to the hospital where he was intubated and transferred to the NICU!
Jack has not responded to his parents, Ross & Rachael, since that time.
On September 9th he 'crashed again' and they had to suction thick mucus from his lungs. He wasn't able to tolerated anything in his stomach.
Many tests have been done: MRI's, Spinal Taps, Blood Work, EEG, Chest Xray..... everything looks normal. But Jack is not waking up or moving much.
An Infectious Rare Disease Doctor in Virginia was called and he feels Jack has Botulism. Jack was given an 'Anti-Toxin' this morning 9/11. This medication is $43,000. If it really is Botulism....Jack should regain his health in 3 weeks!
The Workman's were between Health Insurances. They do not fall into the 'low income' range & Health Insurance costs were too high. A Case worker is working with them now.
The cost of the NICU, Ambulance, ER, Tests..... will be huge!
