Help The Vandiver Family

Donation protected
Hello my name is Melissa (Vandiver) Davis. I am raising funds to help my brother, Michael Vandiver and his wife Kenya and their five young children, in the wake of destruction caused by Cancer and Covid 19.

Michael and Kenya are a Christian couple who give far more than they have ever received. They do not ask for help, but instead they always ask what THEY can do to help everyone else. This loving couple has foster-adopted five of their nine kids in Midland, TX. Their other four children are older and live on their own. As parents, they finally had to stop fostering new kids because they are out of space -- their huge hearts and kindness is the reason they adopted every child they fostered who was without a family or home. They feel blessed by God to have such a large, happy family. It is rare to see either one of them without at least one baby in their arms.

Michael and Kenya are the first ones to help when neighbors, family or friends are in need. Whether it is helping other families move furniture, caring for people after surgery, giving other families a place to stay, sending food, birthday or Christmas gifts to children without, helping the needy -- even when they didn't have anything to spare. They're often working on someone else's car, mowing the next-door neighbor's lawn, replacing a toilet or installing a handicapped ramp for a family's home. They are the first to raise their hand. These are merely a few examples of their generosity. They are the ones you call if you are out of your luck and need help...their answer without hesitation is "hold on, I'm loading everyone up and we'll be there ASAP". This is NO exaggeration.

Michael lost his job as a mud engineer in the oilfield industry in March 2019, when the oil industry began declining and then was further impacted by Covid.

Michael has recently progressed to stage 4 colon cancer out of 5 stages. He has been battling colon cancer for several years. He has had many complications and surgeries including a life-threatening infection that lasted the better part of a year. Just when he was finally recovering from the infection, the cancer came back with a vengeance. He is now without several feet of his intestine, a large section of his colon, half of his bladder and half of his liver. While recovering from the biggest surgery of his life, the whole family contracted Covid, which sent both Michael and Kenya to the hospital by ambulance on her birthday, no less! Michael continues to struggle with Covid pneumonia, on top of the cancer.

In addition to Covid, Kenya has high blood pressure due to adrenal tumors. Her recent surgery is causing more and new challenges to her health, and she is also unable to work at her profession as a nurse. That said, they are too sick to work and were recently denied financial assistance that would have helped get them through. They are about to lose their modest home and vehicles. They need financial help with their mortgage, car payments, bills, medical expenses, diapers, baby formula and groceries for the kids. They will not ask for help, but it's badly needed, so I will.

Please give what you can, any amount will help them. Thank you.
