Help the SWEETEST Mom beat stage 4 Lung Cancer!

Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting our mom, Peggy will agree she is truly a saint. One of the kindest, most generous, caring humans you will ever have the pleasure of meeting.

On March 22, what would have been a normal phone call with my mom turned out to be something that would shortly change our lives. My mom had completely lost all of her speech, besides being able to say a few colors. I immediately called 911 where she was then rushed to the emergency room. After many tests what we thought was a stroke ended up being a seizure caused by swelling in her brain from tumors. This was crushing news to hear but we are so fortunate to live so close to Boston that we had her transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital. The doctors performed a craniotomy to remove one of the tumors, after the biopsy and many tests later it was determined she has stage 4 progressive metastatic lung cancer, which has traveled to the brain causing 6 brain tumors. This has undoubtedly rocked our worlds.

For someone who has always put others before herself, We are now asking others to help Peggy have a fighting chance. All money raised will go to providing the best care for her treatment. Peggy has had Lupus for over 25 years, putting her at greater risk with the use of traditional treatments, which will result in nontraditional treatments that are not covered by insurance. The funds donated would also help cover the costs of her upcoming radiation treatment, co-pays, traveling to and from Boston, and parking expenses. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and prescription medication needed along the way. In addition to these expenses, she will be out of work for the unforeseeable future. A job she loved dearly for over 20 years working as a special education paraprofessional. While the only thing she misses is her students it also means no income coming in. We will be using the funds to keep payments on her home, car and utilities.

While we have been given the term non-curable we are going to do everything in our power to give our mom a fighting chance. We want every treatment option available to her and as many of you know not all treatments are covered by insurance. She has already inspired us and everyone she has met along her journey thus far. She has been nothing but positive during all of this, knowing there is only one path to go down. With your help, this will give Peggy peace of mind knowing that everything is taken care of and her only concern is to stay in that beautiful positive mindset and continue enjoying life!
