Help The School House !

The School House needs a new heating system. For years we have been heating the house with only wood burning stoves but we have decided that it is time to finally put in a real heating system into the building. We want to make this investment into our home but cannot do it without your help. Most heating systems cost between 15,000- and 30,000 dollars which we cannot afford, and no bank will lend to us, because of the fact that the house is heated with wood burning stoves. Also, the house has no insurance because it is heated solely by wood-burning stoves, and no insurance company would assume that risk either. So we are left with this Catch-22 where the house needs a proper heating system, but we cannot attain it through traditional funding routes. We need this heating system to ensure the ​future safety, convenience, ​and insurability of the home. So we humbly come to our community, our friends, family and those who have stayed in the house, and we ask for a donation of any kind. If you have stayed at the School House, you know how special it is. It is more than a house; it is a mindset, a place where you can let your creativity run free and get lost in a timeless world. The School House is at a critical point where it needs our help. The two highest funders will be rewarded with a complimentary two-night weeknight stay.

Nick has put his entire soul into this home. Back in 2001, he and his partner bought the place in a derelict condition; it had been uninhabited for 25 years, was full of waist-deep trash, and the surrounding land was a junkyard. Despite the sorry state of the property, they saw potential in this decrepit two-storey brick schoolhouse. This beautiful home came together on an extreme budget, and with their relentless work ethic, they turned this decaying brick structure into a beautiful home. Anyone who has ever been to the School House, can tell you how unique it is. Please help us upgrade the home so that we can continue to welcome our lovely guests.
