Help the Proctors Save their Home after Oil Leak

I'm starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my cousin Emmaline, her husband Brian, their 9 month old daughter Aria, and the baby they currently have on the way.

 

On Friday, January 7th, the Proctor family experienced an oil leak at their home in Wareham. 50 gallons of oil flooded their basement and caused extensive damage to their foundation and contaminated the surrounding soil. The family was forced to evacuate due to the fumes and the health risks they posed to the family and their young children.

 

Emmy and Brian spent the next week meeting and speaking with their insurance company, public adjusters, emergency clean-up crews, environmental emergency response, and attorneys hoping that this whole mess would be covered but unfortunately the unanimous response has been "there's nothing we can do."

 

This unfortunate and completely unexpected disaster has left the family in a financially devastating situation due to the severity of the leak. The cost to have their foundation dug up and repaired along with the cost of a full environmental investigation to cleanup the contaminated soil and groundwater was quoted at nearly $100,000. For context, we helped Emmy and Brian purchase this home as first time homebuyers in 2018. It's a 892 SqFt ranch and was intended to be a starter home for the young family. Emmy is a stay at home mother and Brian is an Army Veteran. With a second baby on the way and only one income, the Proctors are not in the position to fund this emergency remediation on their own and are in critical need of help. If they are unable to remedy the situation, they will be forced to walk away from their home permanently and declare bankruptcy resulting in foreclosure (and probably a lengthy legal battle with the DEP). They are unsure where they would go if it came to this.

 

Needless to say, this situation has been a nightmare for Emmy and Brian and they really need our help. Please help us to reach our goal so that the Proctors are able to save their home and keep their young babies safe.
