Imagine you live in the poorest parts of a third world country, your income each day is just enough to buy food, and your backup plan, your insurance or your savings just don't exist. That is, if you are lucky enough to have a home at all.

Living here is like a game of snakes and ladders, with far more snakes than ladders. Access to a safe place to sleep, to clean water, or the ability to work are very difficult when you have nothing to begin with.

You must even pay to use the toilet or take a shower. There is no free medical care like we enjoy in our countries. If you get sick from very basic illnesses you'll often die or become disabled, making your struggle harder.

For the kids of the slums, getting to school, staying in school and getting out of this life is near impossible.

Jakarta Hidden tours and its charity aims to lift up people, provide them with opportunities for education, the ability to see a doctor and to provide micro loans to help them start their own micro businesses.

With the recent massive flooding affecting the poorest areas of Jakarta the most, there is an urgent need for additional support for the people we care about.

Imagine if your daily income was only enough to pay for very modest amounts of food everyday. Now imagine the impact the flood is having on the poorest in Jakarta. Most of the drivers of these vehicles don't own the vehicles, so when the vehicle is out of action, so is their income.

For those even poorer, who can only sell drinks on the road during the day, night time involves sleeping on cardboard on a concrete park under a bridge with hundreds of others.
