HELP "THE OUTER RIM" MAKE 2 NEW EPISODES!

Hello there! I'm James Bray, creator & executive producer of THE OUTER RIM. We've been very pleased to bring you our first episode of SWEEPERS and are ready to shoot part 2. We've got nearly all principal photography done for two episodes of CHALLENGER and we have an amazing script for the pilot of our next series, MOTHER. Every one of these series have incredible story arcs with terrific characters. Nearly a decade has been spent honing and developing entertaining adventures for you to enjoy!

We began as a STAR TREK fan film, but once the film-makers guidelines from CBS dropped, we realized that these restrictions would keep us from telling the kinds of stories we wanted to tell in the way we needed to tell them. After much angst and hand-wringing, we realized that we'd actually been done a favor; by removing all the TREK and replacing it with our own worldbuilding, we found ourselves in a much larger universe, creatively speaking! We dug into our own pockets, sold all of our TREK props and uniforms and financed SWEEPERS and a good portion of CHALLENGER. These were both "broken shoestring" budgets, so we found creative ways to "value-engineer" our productions. Thank heaven for an all-volunteer cast and crew (and some of these folks are professionals)! Everyone on our team sees the value of what we're doing, and that is why they keep coming back to make more! That is also why additional people who know their stuff reach out to us asking how they can help...

But we're stuck right now. Over the last year covid hit us hard. My entire household came down with it. I spent time in the hospital, and both my father and uncle died from it. My wife lost her job of 10 years over it when the hospital she worked for restructured several departments. We've all lost people and some of us have lost our means of earning a living. Suffice to say, it's been tough. But when the going gets tough...well, you know the thing... So...I'll cut right to the chase....

Our needs are simple. Our plan is to build on to our current, yet meager inventory of set pieces. We'll recycle as much as we can, but we need to build several new set pieces. We need the interiors of the ship in MOTHER, the URSA MARU; a large, family-owned shipping vessel. Once we're done shooting MOTHER, we can "redress" most of those sets to be the interior of the medical frigate, WHITECHAPPEL, for SWEEPERS 2. This will save tons of money and allow for a quick turnaround to shoot both shows back to back.

We've been teasing some aliens called The Parkesh, a horde of terrifying mutant pirates that will require a ton of FX makeup to accomplish... and we need to make at least a dozen of them, and no two look alike. I've sourced a company (MOSTLY DEAD.COM) that can provide us with the foam latex appliances we need, but that will require funding as well. Everyone is welcome to explore MOSTLY DEAD to see just how much these things cost.

We're hoping to begin shooting February 2022, with two months lead time to purchase all the needed materials. We're praying for a VERY merry Christmas...

The breakdown is pretty simple as well.....

5K for new sets.

3K for makeup

2K for unaccounted/incidentals/craft services/electricity, etc.

That's 10K for two thrilling episodes, free to watch, any time, anywhere.
