Help the Morse Family in Their Time of Need

We hope this message finds you well. Today, we are reaching out to all of you with heavy hearts to share the incredible journey of our beloved cousin, Cameron, and his family and ask for your support.

Cameron and Lily got married in August 2012, they arrived in the United States from China for a summer vacation in July 2014. While visiting friends in Colorado, Cameron had a major seizure that would change the course of their lives forever. An MRI revealed a brain tumor, later diagnosed as the formidable Glioblastoma.

Cameron and Lily made the courageous decision to give up their teaching positions and did not return to China. It was quickly determined, post-biopsy, that Cameron's tumor was inoperable. With an estimated 14 months to live, Cameron chose to pursue his dream of obtaining a Master's in Fine Arts from UMKC. Despite the immense challenges he faced, Cameron's determination and passion for poetry shone brightly. His poetry became notable both in the classroom and through publications, resulting in 9 published books, Fall Risk(2018), Father Me Again(2018), Terminal Destination(2019), Coming Home With Cancer(2019), Baldy(2020), Far Other(2020), Bad Astrocyte(2021), The Thing is(2021), Sonnetizer(2023), and numerous magazine publications.

In addition to his written work, Cameron and Lily embraced the joys of parenthood and had three beautiful children: Theodore, age 5, Naomi, 3, and Genevieve, 18 months. While Cameron pursued his studies and writing, Lily continued her teaching journey by nurturing young minds at a Montessori school, all while being a loving and devoted mother.

Two years ago, on his son Theo’s birthday, he had to go to the ER due to non-stop seizures. It was then Cameron received the heartbreaking news that his tumor had shown signs of change. During these recent years, Cameron experienced a gradual loss of physical function, which deeply affected his quality of life. His health rapidly declined, leading to falling, trouble moving and swallowing, and vasoconstriction is making it hard for him to receive treatment. And he continued to fight with everything in him.

As family and friends, and as passionate followers of Cameron's poetry, we are profoundly saddened to witness his declining health. Despite these challenges, Cameron has continued to find solace and joy in his art. Just recently, he participated in a Haiku challenge, and he has especially enjoyed exploring the Haiku format over the past year. This is an example of one of his favorites:
