Help for the Kikuchi-Okano family after housefire

With a broken heart and tears in my eyes, I open up this GoFundMe page for my family - for my sisters Ako, Uta and Enna, my step mum Kaoru and my father Hiroyuki.

On the 10th of January 2021, a tragic fire occurred in their home, taking the lives of my beautiful mother and sisters.

Kaoru was born to be a mother. She was such a dedicated, loving mum to my little sisters. Watching them play and learn are memories I will never forget. She was a great friend to me and many others.  I will love you to the end of time.

Ako was the eldest of the three girls. She was the sweetest, caring girl. She had the biggest heart I know. She really took on the older sister role, looking after her sisters. You would always catch her jumping on the piano to practice, practicing her hula dancing, or doing her studies. She was always striving to make her parents proud...That she did!

Uta was the cheekiest, middle girl. Stealing lollies when she wasn’t allowed, fighting with Enna, saying cheeky things, or making funny drawings of dad. She loved the Nintendo Switch, and was such a hog when playing it. Of them all, Uta loved playing games; especially with my brother, Jake.

Enna, where do I begin? The littlest, yet the biggest personality. She was so loud all the time, singing and talking gibberish. There was not a day you would see her without drawings on her arms. She was a real artist! There were also many drawings on the wall and couch; courtesy of collaborative work by Uta and Enna. She loved fighting with the cats and annoying them. Enna made everyone laugh.

After the tragic house fire, my dad, Hiroyuki, was taken to hospital in a sedated coma after trying to fight the fire and ultimately being dragged out by firefighters. The moment I had to tell him the news of his family’s passing was truly horrible, and one I won’t ever forget. My dad has lost everything; his beloved children, his wife Kaoru, their two cats Nixon and Tsuppy, and their home and everything in it. On top of all this, his business was decimated this year from Covid-19 and the financial hardship it caused; leaving them with nothing. When I saw him in hospital after the fire, he literally had no clothes on his back - absolutely everything is gone.

I’m asking for your help.  Any money we raise will go towards:

• Providing a beautiful memorial service to celebrate the lives of Ako, Uta, Enna and Kaoru, and how much joy they gave everyone around them.
• Helping defray travel expenses for Kaoru’s parents and brother travelling from Japan - not an easy task with coronavirus, and the cost and time required to quarantine.
• Helping my father Hiroyuki get back on his feet, and putting a roof over his head.

Every little bit helps, and we thank you so much for your kindness and support!
