Friday, May 2, 2025: Steve and Diane Kennedy received a phone call no one ever wants to receive. Their house was on fire. Thankfully, they were not home at the time.

Unfortunately, their dog was and sadly, Buster, passed away during the fire.

Friday night, a strong thunderstorm was rolling through the area. The house was struck by lightning, sparking a fire that spread quickly. So much was destroyed so fast.

The house is a complete loss, major structural beams are completely burned or burned beyond repair. They have lived in this house in Spring Branch, TX since 1998.

All their belongings are either burned, melted, covered in soot, or have extreme smoke damage.

Their Camaro and a couple of motorcycles were in the garage at the time. The fire also burned/melted the keys to the other vehicles they own.

This will be a very long road. Insurance is slow to respond. Thankfully the American Red Cross was fast to respond and help with temporary housing and essentials, but funds for temporary housing are quickly running out.

My name is Ashley Kennedy, Steve and Diane are my in-laws. Their son, Nathan, and myself have started this gofundme in an effort to help them as much as possible. They are listed as the beneficiary on the fundraiser, though it may not show on here.
