Help the Fongs Recover from House fire

My name is Ivy and I've created this fundraiser to help my family recover from a house fire on February 24th, 2022. Today we were supposed to be celebrating my father's birthday but instead my parents Choon and Christina, and my siblings, Bryan and Doreen lost the family home they have lived in for the last 26 years. After the fire, the house was looted twice before security chased them away.

No one was injured, thankfully, but the memories from building a life in Canada over the last 48 years have been lost in the fire. My parents pride themselves on being great neighbours and great gardeners with an extensive dahlia garden and houseplants that are decades old. The majority of their belongings suffered fire, smoke and water damage and they have not yet been allowed to return to the house to see if any belongings could be recovered.

The cause of the fire has not been determined but it began in the garage before igniting the rest of the house.

They are currently staying with my family in Richmond until a more permanent solution can be found. They are navigating the insurance process to begin recovery however, they've been told that the insurance will not cover it all and it will be a long road ahead. It has been a very emotional time.

This fundraiser is to help the family get back on their feet and provide a place for our friends and loved ones to show their support.
