Help the Clarke Family Fight Cancer

4 weeks ago, James Clarke (48) was diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer that had spread to his brain. Because this is aggressive cancer, he has already had brain surgery and started blanket radiation on his brain. Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy on his lung will start October 14. This type of cancer is not curable but the hope is to treat this quickly and thoroughly to keep it under control for as long as possible.
James and his family, including his wife Susan and 11-year old daughter Meghan, are doing all they can to keep up with what is happening.
Many of you have already stepped up to help in numerous ways and your acts of love and caring are needed and much appreciated. Please keep doing whatever you can. Every gesture, prayer, and positive thought is needed.
We have created this page for those of you who have asked for other ways to help. Since this is all happening so quickly, we are still not entirely sure what their medical expenses will ultimately be, but we do know that there will be many expenses that aren't covered by insurance such as insurance deductibles, home nursing care, and some trial programs and holistic treatments.
The good news is that James' work is being overly generous and are covering coinsurance costs right now, for which we are beyond grateful. However, to get him to all of his treatments and provide care afterward, Susan will be taking a lot of unpaid leave from her job in daycare. The family relies on her paycheck to make ends meet, so not having this as steady income will definitely create hardships even before we factor in any medical costs that will surface in the future.
Susan has been doing an amazing job but we know that taking time off from work and how it will affect their finances is something that she worries about every day. And, we know she's going to need an immense amount of help to get through this challenging time as she supports James' needs and cares for their daughter. We are hoping to ease some of her worries with this campaign. No amount is too small, and every penny is appreciated more than we can express.
