I am Basem Barghout from Gaza, married for five years. My wife and I work on creating entertainment content on YouTube platform. Since the beginning of the war on Gaza on October 7th, we have been experiencing death and displacement from one place to another in search of lost safety.

Whenever the bombing gets closer to us, we flee to a new place, and our lives have turned into an endless nightmare.

We lost our home, belongings, and memories, and became homeless. We were eagerly awaiting the birth of our first child, as years of waiting and treatment attempts succeeded, but our joy was incomplete.

My wife lost her first fetus due to the fear and psychological turmoil she experienced since the start of the war on Gaza.

We are now living in difficult and inhuman conditions, lacking the basic necessities of life. We drink contaminated water, suffer from infectious diseases, and cannot find treatment, as even healthcare services have been destroyed by the occupation.

We have become displaced and homeless without a source of income for five months.

My wife is suffering from a difficult psychological condition due to losing her fetus, for which she struggled for a long time, as this pregnancy came after years of treatment and waiting.

We have endured a great deal of pain, sorrow, and loss over the course of 146 days of war. All that is left of our lives are memories.

أنا باسم برغوت من غزة، متزوج منذ خمس سنوات. أعمل أنا وزوجتي في إنشاء محتوى ترفيهي على منصة يوتيوب. منذ بداية الحرب على غزة بتاريخ السابع من أكتوبر، نتعرض للموت والنزوح من مكان إلى آخر بحثًا عن أمان مفقود. كلما اقترب منّا القصف، نهرب إلى مكان جديد، تحولت حياتنا إلى كابوس لا ينتهي. فقدنا منزلنا ومقتنياتنا وذكرياتنا، وأصبحنا مشرّدين بلا مأوى. كنا ننتظر مولودنا الأول بفارغ الصبر، حيث نجحت محاولات العلاج بعد سنوات من الانتظار، ولكن فرحتنا لم تكتمل، فقدت زوجتي جنينها الأول نتيجة الخوف والاضطراب النفسي الذي عاشته منذ بدء الحرب على غزة.

نعيش الآن في ظل ظروف صعبة ولا إنسانية، نفتقر إلى أدنى مقومات الحياة، نشرب ماء ملوثاً، نعاني من الأمراض المعدية ولا نجد العلاج، حتى خدمات الرعاية الصحية قام الاحتلال بتدميرها. لقد أصبحنا نازحين مشرّدين بلا مصدر دخل منذ خمسة شهور. تعيش زوجتي حالة نفسية صعبة بسبب فقدانها لجنينها الذي عانت طويلاً من أجله، فقد جاء هذا الحمل بعد سنوات من العلاج والانتظار.

لقد تحملنا قدرًا كبيرًا من الألم والحزن والفقد على مدار 146 يومًا من الحرب، لم يتبقى لنا من حياتنا إلا الذكريات.
