Help the Avila Family recover from Hurricane Ida

Hi everyone, I am fundraising for the Avila family who have been affected by Hurricane Ida.  Hector and Ashley together with their children moved into the lovely town of Highland Park, NJ the end of June 2021 after an exhausting 5 months search for a home in this crazy market.  Excited to begin their new journey in their new town they were in the process of unpacking and making the home comfortable for their children. Then tragedy struck the other night when Hurricane Ida came through quickly and fiercely making it necessary for them to be evacuated immediately by the Highland Park fire department. You can imagine how devastating and upsetting this is to a family especially young children. The house is literally destroyed.  Gas and electric have been shut off and their house is not livable. They were informed that for their own safety not to be inside the home. The foundation is compromised….ceilings are collapsed…walls ripped out… appliances ripped out of the wall… Water is everywhere… The swingset was ripped from the ground and thrown against the house… Water is inside walls making it an electrical danger… Clothes, toys, personal belongings destroyed.  They gathered what few belongings they could and are now in a hotel. They have been in touch with their homeowners insurance as well as the flood insurance company. Homeowners denied their claim.  The flood insurance carrier has not been to the house yet realistically because they are swamped with claims. Hector‘s vehicle was submerged in the flood waters and destroyed as well. Just a little background information… Hector is a decorated Army veteran who honorably served 9 tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, and Kosovo.  He has devoted his life to military service and continues to serve veterans within the VA hospital. The family is currently displaced. Any funds raised will help them relocate comfortably as well as help the children replace necessary items.  We don’t know where they are going to end up staying and I am helping them try to rent a place temporarily. The kids were excited to attend school in Highland Park and make new friends but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen currently.  One of their young daughters is diagnosed with cerebral palsy and you can imagine how difficult that is in and of itself. Let’s try and help our veteran and his family during this difficult time.   Héctor is currently out of work and utilizing his vacation time while they navigate through this.  Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts we love and appreciate you!!
