Help the Abilene Forensics team get to Nationals!

Hello everyone,

My name is Sarah Schlottman, and I am the coach for the Abilene High School Debate and Forensics Team. Forensics is competitive speaking and acting.

I am a first year teacher and coach who took over the program this year. AHS did not have a team last year. In spite of this, our students have performed beyond expectations. In our first Forensics season together, half of the team (8 students) have qualified for state-level competition, and the team has one national qualifier, Haylie Olson.

Haylie, a junior, has had an incredible season, placing at almost every tournament this season in their events. Haylie had a 3rd place streak in Dramatic Interpretation/Serious Solo Acting, and broke that streak with a 1st place finish at a national bid tournament. This tournament not only earned Haylie a State Qualification, but the opportunity to compete at NIETOC, the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions.

This national tournament will take place in Bellevue, Nebraska between May 9th-12th. This is an incredible achievement for Haylie. In order for Haylie and myself to attend, we need to raise approximately $1000 by May 1st. These funds will help cover the cost of entry fees, hotels, gas and food for this trip. Any funds raised over our goal will go directly into the Forensics Team funds for future national trips, of which I expect many more! Our team is small but mighty, and the talent within the team is incredible. The future is bright for these students.
