Help the FA Family

Hello! My name is Stephen Fusco and a small group of us, largely connected through DU and friendships, have been working hard to support FA (protecting his name) and his family to get to Denver to begin a new life. FA and I met almost three years ago in the educational leadership and policy studies doctoral program at the University of Denver. Through our classes together and our work as graduate research assistants, we quickly became close friends. FA was about to bring his wife and kids to Denver when his mother unexpectedly passed away and he was forced to return home. Currently they are in Germany.

If there is any doubt regarding the remarkable character of FA and his family, his recent accounts should ease those concerns. For example, in a recent email he put the needs of others ahead of his family's needs, noting that "I hope they arrange something with time slots or a schedule so people can follow, since there are more desperate people compared to me and all youth who want to leave country." Additionally, in a recent email exchange I had with FA regarding his situation, he profusely apologized for not checking in with me (which I immediately dismissed) while his family was in a state of crisis.

As we wait for them to arrive in Denver, we are working to set up housing, food, clothing, alternative transportation, any medical/mental health needs, and other basic necessities. Please consider donating to help this incredible family of 6 forge a new life.
