Tasha is a very active, fun loving, amazing, and sweet Australian shepherd mix. She's the best rescue pup I could have ever imagined having! Her favorite things to do are hiking, dog park visits, long walks, and meeting new friends out at the farmers market or local brewery.

Tasha has had many tough changes this year, starting with her parents separating, then her doggy brother ran away, and now she has an injured leg. Through it all, she has maintained her happy spirit, but not being able to hike or even go to the dog park is taking it's toll.
About a month ago, Tasha stopped putting any weight on or using her hind leg. The vet presumed possible ACL tear, and she was put on strict rest and medications in hopes that her knee may begin to heal. After 2 weeks her knee was even more less stable. It was another two weeks of Tasha hopping around on 3 legs before we could see the orthopedic vet. After multiple vet visits and xrays, it was confirmed that she has a complete torn ACL in her right knee. Her only option to have the use of her leg again is to have surgery.
The surgery to fix Tasha's knee is a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) and will cost between $3,400 to $3,600. It will include an extensive three month recovery time, but has excellent outcomes for return to full normal activity. To aid in her recovery, she will benefit from physical therapy, aquatic therapy, and acupuncture at additional cost.
With the help of friends, family, and dog lovers, our sweet Tasha can return to her neighborhood walks and adventerous outdoor activities.

I would have scheduled Tasha's surgery as soon as Dr. Schwarz had availabity, but the reality is I have to have the full amount for surgery. I am unable to qualify for any care credit, have been researching local and national options for surgical funding, and am looking into options for local fundraising. The honest truth is that I am currently doing the best that I can to pay my mortgage, keep the utilities on, and feed Tasha and I. Unfortunately, not having surgery isn't an option. She's not only in pain, but the longer Tasha hops on her other hind leg, she is at risk for injuring that leg. Ideally, Tasha needs to have her surgery within the month of January.
All funds raised will go directly to cover the cost of surgery, vet bills, and needed treatment during her 3 month recovery. Any donation amount will be much appreciated and help sweet Tasha Bean return to her normal and active outdoor activities!
