Help Tammy Humiston kick cancer's@#

We are a Motley Crue of a family! Talk about adversity making you stronger, we have had our share and we have come out on the other side of most of it. The matriarch of our family is my mom, 57 year old Tammy Humiston. She's on the left of the profile picture which was taken on Thanksgiving 2016 about 2 weeks after she had part of her right lung removed and when we found out she had stage 3 lung cancer. Her cancer, along with some other family crisis, brought our entire family together for the first time since my parents divorced in 2010. She taught us and continues to teach us to look for the blessings in things and good, bad, or worse, her cancer has had positive, long lasting impact. As we approach this Thanksgiving her battle continues as she now has 4 tumors and is undergoing another round of chemo and we head to Roswell for potential experimental treatments or total lung removal. We will all come together again this year to celebrate and offer gratitude for the past year and all that it taught us. My mom is not one to ask for help and after my husband's heart attack this year she hates to lean on us or anyone else. She always wants to be the strong one. Even today, she is making fudge to sell in order to help a friend with lymphoma, cooking for a grandparent of one of her students who was just diagnosed with cancer,  and she has been knitting prayer shawls for others during her chemo sessions. Mom did the best she could to financially prepare for more bills and more missed work but after being out of work for almost 6 months she has just barely gotten on her feet. She knew this was coming so she gave up her apartment and is renting a room from a friend. She has given up so much in this fight and she refuses to ask for help because she does not want to be a burden and feels so blessed for all she has like good insurance and wonderful people surrounding her. We plan to have a benefit but that takes time to put together and in planning it, so many have asked how they can help on the meantime and from afar. Many suggested Go Fund Me and so here we are. Please know that money is not the only way to help. A card sent to her at po box 2864 Syracuse, NY,  13220 or a funny joke sent to her on Facebook (Tammy Humiston) would be just as welcomed. My mom is known to brighten people's days by singing (her tune is terrible by the way) telling the corniest jokes to her students on the bus, or letting people know it's her birthday when it's not (the actual day is 8/3). As she told one of her students when he asked why she always said it was her birthday, how can you possibly be upset when you think it's your birthday? Please help me celebrate this special person who we need in the world. Happy birthday to you all today and every day. May you always have enough love, enough time, enough gratitude. http://www.kindspring.org/story/view.php?sid=6704
