Help Sweet Jimmy

On Tuesday night, July 28th, my brother Jim Wahl was involved in a very serious car accident in downtown Mpls in the North Loop.  He was in the back seat of a car that was rear ended at high speed (80-100 mph we were told) and caught fire with him in it.  The attached news clip grossly underreports the injuries. He was transported to the hospital via ambulance and went immediately into surgery to repair his internal injuries.  He had a lacerated diaphragm and other internal injuries.  He has at least 8 broken ribs, a broken shoulder blade, a damaged vertebrae in his neck, and 3rd degree burns on his legs.  He was on a ventilator to assist his breathing, until yesterday.  He will need to undergo skin grafts for the burns on his legs. I'm guessing he will be in the hospital over a month, and unable to work for quite some time after that.  He has health insurance, but it won't cover everything.  We still don't know anything yet about the other driver and if they have insurance.  I am grateful he had his seat belt on, he would not have survived if he hadn't (wear your seat belts!).
