Help Zack Packard Recover From His Protest Attack
Our friend and community cornerstone, Zack Packard, was attacked during the George Floyd protests in Denver on May 31st. As he was protecting other protesters from tear gas canisters outside of the Denver police station, he was hit in the head with high gauge projectile. This attack was followed by another round of projectiles, leaving his skull fractured and his brain hemorrhaging. Zack was left bleeding on Colfax and Pearl Street while officers scattered the rest of the protesters. When Zack arose he made it four blocks south before collapsing, where he was found bleeding out by kind hearted strangers who called his close friend, Christian McDonnell. These individuals acted quickly and effectively, saving Zack’s life by bring him to receive medical attention immediately. He spent the night in the hospital narrowly avoiding a high risk surgery necessary to drain the blood from his brain.
Zack Packard is a life long friend to many, he is there in high spirits and pure passion through thick and thin. There are individuals around the country who can attest to his unwavering positivity. A talented skateboarder and an unparalleled lyricist and rapper, Zack brings beauty to a dark world. He is an activist and a lover, one who fights for his brothers and sisters, even in the face of an armed military. This brutal injury was the result of his deliberations to fight for the freedoms of those who have been systematically oppressed.
